Our History!
And how we got started.

1996: We fall for a anybody can do business online with affiliate programs gimmick.

1996: We learn Google and other search engines dont like affiliate based websites. We also learned its easy to build a basic website but hard to get targeted traffic. Targeted traffic being people interested in what you have to sell. It was during this time that we got our second domain called yourshoppingspot.

1997: We find 2 wholesale suppliers for home and personal security devices. Now we have our own products to market making the search engine and directory submissions somewhat easier.

1998: We learned that selling car accessories like shaved door handle kits and power window kits not to mention alarms and remote starters can be fun and interesting. Finding suppliers that will work from a startup basis is not so easy. We do find one however and setup shop listing many items without know much about them.

1999: Getting to number one or even the first page on the search engines for a popular keyword is nearly impossible. But taking a cold call from traffic power is even dumber. Dont ever go with any company that cold calls you saying they can get you high rankings on the search engines.

2000: We learned that pepper spray while effective and cheap, is actually too cheap to make much money on unless you sell it wholesale. Also it is illegal in some states to protect yourself with it. Some states seem to really get into the controling business and care less for their people then others.

2002: We notice we have problems with customers on the few car related accessories we do manage to sell. At this time we also lose a supplier of personal security items because we were deemed "too much trouble" when we asked for details about a new law in effect that the supplier had sent an email to everyone about. We didnt mind too much because we never really felt that the end customer was a top priority of theirs.

2003: Still working on the car accessories. We create another website to sell both product lines. Still having problems with some customers getting late shipments and this makes us look bad and we dont like it but have no real power to change our suppliers disregard for us and our customers.

2004: Our supplier has broken some core trust with us by including our companies credit card information and our wholesale cost with a shipment to one of our customers. This customer sends us a email stating that if he knew gnu industries(aka slickcar.com, commandocaralarms.com and more) was our supplier he never would have done business with us but he now understands why his order is so long overdue. He is cordial and eventually allows us to post his email and name on a webpage explaining why we no longer do business with that supplier. We start checking our suppliers BBB rating and know for sure that with 10 complaints we cant do business with them, (At last check they had 32 complaints against them). We also get some nasty emails from the president of the previous mentioned supplier threatening us with "action" if we do not remove all their products from our website within 6 hours. We ignore him and proceed to remove all shopping carts and to place warnings that we do not do business with said supplier.. At the same time we are looking for a new supplier with better customer service and hopefully better product quality.

2006: We found a new supplier for car accessories and even a few specialty one or two item suppliers for engine and transmission controllers. Our new suppliers do indeed provide very high quality, some parts being standard equipment on european sports cars. Customer service very fast by comparison and our customer support calls coming in have dried up to nearly nothing. We literally have months with no customer support calls. We are once again very happy. Now if we could figure out how to spam the search engines for a front page listing we would have it made.
